Dimapur, May 10: The NSCN (IM) has stated that the merger of the group led by Azheto Chophy with NSCN (K) was in “line with their habitual change of allegiance”, pointing out that this was “an insult to the Nagas” and that “this group played with the sentiment of the Naga nation by harping on the serious issue of Naga unification”.
But with their action in contravention of their high sounding unification agenda they proved themselves on the wrong footing, it stated. Revealing their true colors, these people went back to their original fold under NSCN-K which they condemned as ‘without principle’, ‘without discipline’, ‘without vision’, ’statehood protectors’, stated a press note issued by the MIP.It alleged further that the “changed situation effecting Azheto and his group is only a reflection of the moribund group who are in extreme hurry not to push forward the Naga National interest but to have their personal and sectarian interests fulfilled”.
“Deception by touching on the obsessive unification is a cruel treatment to the issue that concerns all Nagas”, the MIP stated and pointed out that it is “now, for those NGOs who took Azheto to be the hero of Naga unification, whether to still praise him or condemn him for betraying the NSCN for his rejoining his old fold”.
