Khing leads Rengmas in celebrating Ngada fest

Tseminyu, November 27: The Rengma community has celebrated its most important festival- Ngada here today with much pomp and traditional gaiety. The celebrants from different corners took part in the Pvu (Morung King Post) Pulling Ceremony and later converged at Tseminyu village ground for the celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, R. Khing, Parliamentary Secretary, Co-operation, Fire and Emergency Services called upon the gathering to rededicate themselves towards the coming year and work for welfare of the villagers.
Stating that Ngada is the most important festival of the Rengmas, the parliamentary secretary said that the festival signifies the achievement and success of the current year.

It is the festival of thanksgiving, merrymaking and rejoicing. This festival also marks the end of the agricultural year.
Also highlighting the significance of Pvu (Morung King Post) Pulling Ceremony, he said that it bears great significant of the past and the present. Morung is a place where old stories and good deeds are retold to the younger generation and mould them to face the new challenges ahead, he said.
Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by G. Rengma, IPS (Rtd DIG). Display of war, traditional melody, songs, dances, community feast marked the grand celebration.
