MOKOKCHUNG: The Miss Mokokchung 2007 was held on October 31 at a grandeur program at the ongoing M-Fest 2007 and the coveted tiara was donned by Imsulemla Aietsur, a student of BA I, Fazl Ali College.
She outsmarted the remaining 11 other contestants who also vied for the title. At the question, Imsulemla Aietsur was asked as to whom she should choose if she were given an option to choose between a good family and a good career.
She answered she would rather prefer a good family than a good career because she explained that it was only through a good family/home that a person is being shaped and molded to be become something in the society.
The contest was held on three different rounds of traditional, designer and Evening Gown round besides the interview and interaction with the judges. The contest was judged by Subongla (Chief Judge) President Watsu Mungdang, Watila Deputy Director Horticulture, Apongti General Secretary MDACC, Col.
Deepak Dhadwal CO 30 AR and Watimongla, Lecturer FAC. The contest was graced by Thangi Manen Commissioner & Secretary Horticulture and the show was hosted by Roselinda Longchar.
The spirit of the evening was lighted up by the cultural shows and displays by Sikkim troupe and a Gujarati group besides dances from Wig Wagglers and a Trisha Yearwood’s rendition of ‘How do I live’ by Suponglemla. Also three rounds of fashion based on the themes ‘Greening Mokokchung’, ‘HIV AIDS and Save Blood’ and ‘Peace is calling’ was held where creations of local designers were showcased.
During the second round of fashion show on the theme ‘HIV AIDS and Save Blood’, Narola from Tuensang, an HIV positive spoke briefly about HIV AIDS and called upon the people to fight against stigma and discrimination.
Meanwhile, Achen Imchen last year’s Naga Idol finalist serenaded the contestants with his song ‘I feel Lonely’. All in all, the beauty pageant came to an end after the declaration of Miss Mokokchung 2007 and the crown was handed over by Akumnaro last year’s Miss Mokokchung and Miss Nagaland.
